1, the life of the hard disk

Ordinary hard disks will start at full speed when the power is turned on, and the instantaneous current may reach 2 amps or even higher. When the monitoring hard disk is started, it will accelerate slowly, and the starting current will be controlled below 2 amps. Because the monitoring system usually installs multiple hard disks, it will generate a large starting current at the moment of startup. If it is an ordinary hard disk, the power supply will be unbearable or even burned.

In addition, the monitoring system's transmission speed requirements for the hard disk are generally not high, but there will be frequent reading and writing of small data volumes. Therefore, it is necessary to make a structural optimization design for the read/write characteristics of the monitoring system on the head reading and writing mechanism to extend the life of the magnetic head. The theoretical average trouble-free running time of the monitoring hard disk is much longer than that of the ordinary hard disk, and the stability and reliability are higher.


2, continuous working time difference

The design of a normal PC hard disk is based on 8×5. 8×5 refers to the ordinary PC hard disk working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (hard disk work means the hard disk is in the read and write state. It is necessary to pay special attention to the two states after the hard disk is powered: working state and waiting state The working state is that the hard disk performs reading and writing work, and the waiting state is that the hard disk is not reading and writing but is in a standby state.

The DVR dedicated hard drive is designed and developed according to the 24×7 enterprise environment requirements. 24×7 means working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (that is, continuous work). Therefore, an ordinary PC hard disk is not suitable for long-term continuous reading and writing. If an ordinary PC hard disk is required to be continuously read and written for a long time, the hard disk will be greatly damaged, and the hard disk may have abnormal sounds, read and write errors, work suspension, and the like. Causes the final damage to the hard drive. Digital DVRs are running all the year round, so the hard disk must be able to work continuously for a long time. The DVR dedicated hard disk can meet this requirement.


3, start the difference

All 3.5-inch hard drives contain a motor system, so when the hard drive is powered up, it is similar to the case where the motor is powered up: a large startup current will occur at the initial time of power-up to complete the hard drive. If the external power supply system of the hard disk does not guarantee sufficient current support when the power is turned on, the hard disk will fail to boot, resulting in the hard disk being unavailable. And if this happens many times, it is easy to cause damage to the hard disk. Since the power supply of the hard disk motor is satisfied by the external power supply system DC 12V, the DC current of 12V is used as the standard when evaluating the starting current of the hard disk. The startup current of a normal PC hard disk is generally between 2.8A and 3.2A. The DVR dedicated hard drive has a startup current of up to 2.0A.

Digital hard disk recorders often use multiple hard disks for data storage. For example, eight hard disks are installed. The normal PC hard disk startup current is 2.8×8=22.4A, and the lowest power consumption is 22.4A×12V=268.8W. DVR dedicated hard drive starting current 2.0A × 8 = 16A, the highest power consumption is 16A × 12V = 192W. It can be seen that the DVR dedicated hard disk has lower requirements on the external power system in the case of the same number of hard disks (the number of DVR-dedicated hard disks that can be installed is more under the support of the external power supply of the same output power).

Note: In the case of the above example, if the external power supply system can only guarantee 250W, some hard disks can be recognized when using ordinary PC hard disks, some hard disks can not be recognized, and there is no regularity.


4, running power consumption and heat dissipation difference

The power consumption here refers to the power consumption of the hard disk during normal read and write states. The operating power consumption of a normal PC hard disk is generally about 14.4 watts, and the operating power consumption of a DVR dedicated hard disk is generally about 8 watts. It can be seen that the DVR dedicated hard disk runs at a power consumption of only 55% of that of a normal PC hard disk. Low operating power consumption is not only important for the power system, but also important for the heat dissipation of the digital hard disk recorder system (operation power consumption). About 75% of it will be converted into heat).

In a digital hard disk recorder, if 8 hard disks are installed, the total power consumption of the ordinary PC hard disk is 14.5W×8=116W, and the total power consumption of the DVR dedicated hard disk is 8W×8=64W. If you use a normal PC hard disk, you can imagine that there is such a high heat source in such a small space as the digital video recorder. The heat dissipation requirement for the system is very high. In order to ensure that the hard disk has a reasonable ambient temperature (0 to 60 ° C), The hard disk system must be effectively cooled. With the DVR dedicated hard disk, the heating situation is much better----the system cooling requirements are reduced to make the system more adaptable to the environment.


5, transmission difference

In addition to the transmission mode of the traditional PC hard disk, the DVR dedicated hard disk also introduces an updated transmission mode---uninterrupted transmission mode, which is up to 65MB/s. By introducing an uninterrupted transmission mode, the support of the hard disk to the streaming media is more reliable, and the smoothness and stability of the playback of the digital hard disk recorder while being recorded are fully guaranteed. This is a feature that is not available on other hard drives.
